Contains research material, all relating to Van Nice’s work at Hagia Sophia between the late 1930s until the 1970s. Series 1 is divided into four (4) subseries. Subseries 1 and 2 contain research notes in various formats, all arranged alphabetically by topic. Alphabetical folders reflect Van Nice’s original order, although titles may have been changed for clarity.
Subseries 3 contains various material related to a planned, but unfinished, text to accompany the published architectural plates of Hagia Sophia. Subseries 4 contains material related to Van Nice’s numerous talks and lectures about his research at colleges and universities around the United States.
