Scope and content

Contains oversize drawings, rubbings, and blueprints of Hagia Sophia. Series 4 also contains materials related to the production of architectural plates and the portfolios. Portfolios include photographs, plate samples used for production, and drawings used by Van Nice for reference. The portfolios include a set of plates from The Church of St. Martin at Angers by George H. Forsyth, annotated by Van Nice. It also includes oversize prints of drawings by other artists, which presumably once hung in Van Nice’s office. Lastly, Series 4 contains oversize materials that have been removed from their corresponding folders and moved to this series in Box 38 for preservation purposes.
