Description

Originally a hermit's cave that became a late antique shrine and transformed into a monastery by the thirteenth century. Two seperate cycles of frescoes in the Cave Church date to the thirteenth century. The Cave Church was enlarged and partly repainted in the early eighteenth century. A church dedicated to Saint Michael the Archangel and another to Saint John the Baptist were built during that time. The Church of Saint Mercurius was built in 1780/1781.
