Episcopal Basilica at Kourion, Lintel revetment fragment from basilica

Plaque fragment with intersecting circles enclosing palmettes; tooth-shaped pattern in borders. Fragment is believed to be originally from the Episcopal basilica but was reused in the floor of the nearby Sarayia Chapel. Imprinted: "12B"

The church building is thought to have existed prior to 1192, the date ascribed to the first cycle of wall paintings. Possibly dated from the middle of the twelfth century. A narthex extension took place in the seventeenth century.
