Contains two (2) series of correspondence and administrative records documenting the administrative history of the Hagia Sophia survey project from the late 1930s to the 1980s. Items are arranged in chronological order.
Series 1 contains the administrative material and correspondence for the survey project. These records document Van Nice’s role in the project, and may include fieldwork updates, travel logistics, expense reports, and other items.
Series 2 contains the publication records of the project. These materials include articles published by Van Nice and Emerson, and all the correspondence and administrative records related to publishing the two installments of architectural plates in 1965 and 1986.
