Description

The church was looted sometime following the Turkish occupation of Cyprus between 1976 and 1979. A number of mosaics were removed from the walls and entered the illegal art market. Some of the mosaics have been recovered and returned to Cyprus at different times (in 1984, 1991, 1997, 2013, 2015). These are now housed in the Byzantine Museum of the Archbishop Makarios III Foundation in Nicosia.
